Angie Smith McGalliard, CRR, RPR

Angie has been court reporting for fifteen years and graduated from the Prince Institute for Court Reporting in Montgomery, Alabama. She started her career in 1991 with Foshee & Turner. Since then, she has obtained her Registered Professional Reporter and Certified Realtime Reporter certifications through the National Court Reporting Association. She says " I joined Freedom Court Reporting in January of 2006. I'm very excited to be back with my friends and coworkers again, and growing our team back into the best reporting agency in Alabama once again! I love my career, and enjoy all the many opportunities it gives me to travel and learn and work on many exciting cases throughout the years." In addition to her career in court reporting, she owns a construction company with her husband and has two boys, Scott, 19, who attends Samford University and plays football for Samford, and Nick, 14, who is in junior high, and keeps them busy watching him play baseball and football as well.

Ashley is a Birmingham, Alabama native and has been a court reporter since graduation from Gadsden State Community College in 2002. Ashley obtained an Associate's in Applied Science degree in court reporting at 22 years of age. Since graduation, Ashley has obtained her Registered Professional Reporter certification. She has also trained to become a Certified Livenote Reporter which enables her to realtime depositions. Ashley is also a member of the National Court Reporters Association and the Alabama Court Reporters Association.

Bridgette graduated from Prince Institute in 1998 and has been a court
reporter in the central Alabama area since that time. Bridgette shares, "One of my favorite things about being a court reporter is that I get to meet so many people from all walks of life, people whose paths I would otherwise never cross.
Of course, this career can be very stressful and demanding at times; but at
the end of the day, it's very rewarding to know that my hard work has played
an integral part in the best judicial system in the world."

Cindy received her B.S. from Auburn University in Education and taught school for a while. After deciding to make a career change, she was introduced into court reporting by a friend. She attended Prince Institute in Montgomery, and became a CSR in December of '89. Cindy started with Charles Foshee and Mickey Turner in January of 1999. She recalls, "I drove from Montgomery to Birmingham my first year and did court work. Started doing depositions in and around the Montgomery area after that." She has been reporting for 16 years. "I have been with Mike and Mickey Turner throughout the 16 years, which is now Freedom Court Reporting. It has been a very rewarding career. "

Dianna is a 1994 graduate of the Huntsville Business Institute School of Court Reporting. While her typical work area is Florence, Alabama, she has also traveled throughout the Southeast, Eastern Seaboard, and California. Her work experience includes class action lawsuits, medical malpractice, medicine and other scientific cases. Dianna says, "I enjoy fast-paced, new-topic depositions." As an amateur photographer, she also enjoys "documenting God's blessings" with her husband and two teenage daughters.

Janet graduated from Southern Illinois University with a court reporting degree in 1985. Her first job was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she was a back-up reporter for a Federal Court Reporter. In 1986, She passed her CSR in Illinois and went back to the Chicagoland area where she worked as a freelance reporter until 1995 when she moved to Birmingham with her family. She started out at Deborah Shaffer's firm and ended up at Foshee & Turner. She stayed with them until joining Freedom a month after we opened. Janet has three sons, Brett "Stone" graduating this year from CCHS with a football scholarship to Huntingdon College, Austin, who is a freshman at CCHS and Nate who is a 6th grader at CCMS. She has been married 19 years to Ron, who works for Alabama Power.

Mickey Turner began court reporting in 1974 after graduating from Lippert's Court Reporting College in Plainview, Texas. For over thirty years she has loved all facets of the court reporting business: reporting depositions, spending time with clients, office management, and training new reporters. Mickey and Mike have three wonderful children, Starr (21), Bentley (20) and Beau (9). Hobbies include reading, horses, and court reporting.

Mike Turner

Mike was born July 2, 1953 and raised in Atlanta, GA. He graduated from Hueytown High in Hueytown, AL in 1971 and attended college at UAH for two years in Huntsville, AL. He then went on to finish at UAB with a Bachelor of Science in Business in 1976. Studying court reporting, he attended Lippert's College of Court Reporting in Plainview, Texas and started working for National Court Reporting Service in 1977. After that, he started Tuscaloosa Court Reporting in Tuscaloosa, AL in 1981, while working at the same time with Foshee and Turner Court Reporting until it was sold in 1998 to Legalink, Inc. along with Tuscaloosa Court Reporting. Mike then worked as Area President along with Mickey for Legalink until 2004. He says " Mickey and I started Freedom Court Reporting in May of 2005 where we currently work with the best people in the world! Mickey and I married in July of 1976 and have 3 children, Starr, Bentley and Beau." His hobbies are spending time with his family, flying and doing volunteer work in a healing/prayer ministry. Mike has been a pilot since 1973 and proposed to Mickey while flying in a Cessna 150 over 30 years ago. He currently flies corporately as well as for fun.

Whether it's learning about nuts and bolts on an assembly line or heart transplant surgery, we get to hear about it all. Not many people get to do that. I wouldn't trade it for anything!"

Tara graduated from Alabama Career College in Huntsville in August of 2001 and has been working in Florence as a court reporter since then. She got into court reporting on the recommendation of her brother, Clay Staggs, who is a tax attorney in Tuscaloosa. Tara was also a scopist for another court reporter for a year before graduating and starting her own career as a reporter.

Theresa Epp, CSR

Theresa was an Official Court Reporter for the State of Oklahoma from February of 1984 until January 31, 2001, assigned to the Fifth Judicial District which encompassed 4 counties. During her officialship, she was assigned to judges in all 4 counties which required her to report civil suits, criminal actions, including death penalty cases, juvenile proceedings, domestic relations, jury and non-jury trials and grand jury proceedings. Thinking that she actually would retire as an Official in Oklahoma, she was surprised to find herself moving to Alabama. Theresa shares, "...just when you think you know what the future holds, God laughs at you and I find myself, as a result of my husband's employment, moving to Huntsville, Alabama." She began freelancing with Foshee & Turner in March of 2001 and then joined Freedom Court Reporting in 2005. She has two sons currently attending Auburn University, Jeremy and Derek, and a daughter, Lauren, quickly approaching high school.

Tim Casey

After spending eight years in the U.S. Navy, Tim became a court reporter in 1995. During the past ten years, he has worked in Birmingham and Northern Alabama, performing all types of reporting including closed captioning for the hearing impaired. From 1997 to 2000, he was the Grand Jury Court Reporter for Jefferson County and was a Special Federal Grand Jury Court Reporter when needed. Tim graduated from the Court Reporting Institute of Tennessee in Nashville.

Vicki Thompson

Vicki completed her B.S. in Business from Freed Hardeman University in 1981. She worked for ten years as a tech editor at Teledyne-Brown Engineering and Boeing before deciding to take some time off to be at home with her children. When it was time to return to the work force, she opted to return to school again instead, "one of the best decisions I ever made!" she says. She graduated with her court reporting degree in 1998, at which time she began working in the Huntsville/Decatur area with Associated Reporters, then moving to Foshee & Turner, and subsequently Freedom. Vicki was born in Decatur, and has spent most of her life in northern Alabama. She has two teenage/adult children, soon to be at Auburn and UNA. In her spare time she enjoys playing with her dogs and reading.
